Fun {October Afternoon Layout}

 

Hi there! Today I have a fun layout I made a month or so ago for the October Afternoon blog. I found a fun inspiration piece featuring one of my favorite shapes - stars. I know I make layouts with stars all the time, but when you find something you love, you might as well stick to it! I punched stars out of various patterned papers in colors that fit with my color scheme of red, orange, black, and blue - all which I pulled from the colors in this Halloween photo!  For more information on this layout, including the original inspiration piece, check out the original post on the OA blog!

Summer on Two Wheels {Gossamer Blue}

Happy Friday!!  I hope everyone had a nice week! Today I have another Gossamer Blue August layout to share! My daughter learned to ride her bike without training wheels this summer, and we've been biking everywhere! I wanted to create a layout sharing this cute photo of her biking on the trail through the prairie!  This month's kits included not one, but TWO bike die elements!!  I decide to use the cute Crate Paper bike sticker from the August Main kit. 

I love how this layout has such soft colors to it.  My other layouts are all pretty bright - the softness is a nice change! Have a great weekend!! :)

Don't Smile {October Afternoon}

 

Happy Monday! I am back on the alphabetical catch-up train!  We have arrived at the D layouts! ;)  This one, "Don't Smile" is a layout I made for an October Afternoon blog challenge.  It was my challenge - to create an "What's Old is New" layout - either using old products or in an old style. I did a little of both. This is a scraplift of an older OA layout of mine AND I use some crazy old product in it!!

Birthday Boy {October Afternoon Layout}

Continuing with my alphabetical catch-up...another B layout. This one is old. REALLY old. I can't believe I never shared this here!!! This was one of the very first layouts I made when I was added to the October Afternoon team last year!  It's hard for me to believe that in a couple of months this little guy will be celebrating another birthday!!  

Another technique I love is color on color - which I did in each segment here!

Alphabetical Catch-Up... :)

I think maybe I should give up on blogging! ;) Instead, I am going to play a quick alphabetical catch up...just starting at the beginning of my "unblogged" folder and sharing layouts in alphabetical order! ;)  First up - BIRTHDAY KIDDOS - made for the October Afternoon blog! Yet another "filled with stuff" kind of layout!!  I love how bright and colorful it is - OA has such fun colors and embellishments!!

Anywhere {October Afternoon}

Another October Afternoon layout today!  This one was for a challenge I hosted called, "Counting Sheep." I decided to create a layout about my littles guy who seems to be taking after his brother in his ability to fall asleep in the strangest positions and places!  

 

I am loving having my typewriter back!  I have been using it on all my layouts lately!  One great feature is that it is very long, so I am able to type on both landscape and portrait layouts! I am also totally in love with that little star stamp... :)

 

I used a single piece of paper that was already sectioned off as my background - it was a perfect way to make a quick layout with lots of colors and patterns! I think I made this layout in less than an hours, which is a pretty bid deal for me. I used to be the girl who took hours...sometimes DAYS to finish a layout. Things have changed, and I don't have the luxury of spending so much time anymore!!

Pink Cheeks {October Afternoon}

Hello! We survived birthdays and Easter and all of the last week of craziness!  Hooray! I have an October Afternoon layout to share today! I made this a month or so ago. I have never been a big pink person, but I had a blast making this monochromatic layout for a designer challenge!  

The color is a little wonky, and you can see that my mist is still wet, ha! I posted on Instagram that I am a big procrastinator when it comes to just about everything in my life, scrapbooking included. I decided to join "The 100 Days Project" with the goal of spending at least 5 minutes a day in my scrap space.  I don't have to create, but I need to do something.  I suppose blogging could even be a part of this, since I am clearly needing some push in this direction, too! ;) I would love for you to follow along or play along! So Lucky {October Afternoon}

Hello, hello to anybody out there who still reads this blog!! ;)  I have a layout to share that was up on the October Afternoon blog last week! The theme last week was Green and/or Lucky. This layout was based on a sketch by the fabulous Laura Craigie! Here is my take on it:

I LOVE this Daily Flash collection - and I tried to make a title out of patterned paper, but it just needed to be black! ;) This layout is all about one of my favorite stories...about my big(ish) family and a kind older gentleman...

Pancake Love {October Afternoon}

Apparently today is National Pancake Day. Who knew!? I think today is the PERFECT day to share my latest October Afternoon layout, which was featured on their blog last week. It's all about...you guessed it...pancakes!  This layout was actually created for a sketch challenge, but of course, it looks nothing like the original sketch...because my layouts never look like the original sketch!!!  It is kind of crazy - both Mou (who I shared the post with) and I used the exact same color scheme and products for our layouts!!  Check them out!

Shoe Love {October Afternoon}

Last week we celebrated "Love Letters" week on the October Afternoon blog. I have to admit, I was less than thrilled when I discovered that was the theme. I am so not a love letter person. I jokingly said to Mel, who was up on the blog with me that day, that I was going to write a love letter to my shoes. So I did. Well, if I'm being honest, it's really a love RAP.  Yeah.  I've got mad skillz. So picture me rapping this in my best midwestern rap voice...

See...all those years I spent in music school are TOTALLY worth it. ;)
