My third Gossamer Blue layout is up today! This one uses the new Heidi Swapp color mists that are available inthe GB shop. I'm a pretty new "mister"...I don't really ever use any techniques other than "drips in the corners!" My colors are always pretty basic, too, but I took a chance on this one and included three different colors. It turned out pretty well. I love how the mists shimmer and shine! Have a great Friday!
**ventage tuesdays is a blog series created by my besties...aka: "the ventage girls"**
If you've been around these parts for awhile, you know I like music. I mean...it IS my job. So when Barb suggested this week's Ventage topic "five favorite songs" I was both excited and perplexed. How in the world do I pick only five favorite songs??!! I have way too many favorites to narrow it down to just five! I could name five for every category of music I enjoy!! After much thought, I picked five songs. It's a pretty eclectic mix. But honestly, there are SO many more I could name.
1. I believe this album was the first CD my mom ever owned, and we listened to it nonstop. I knew the words to every song and could sing the entire thing in order. I still love it today.
2. If I had to pick a moment in music that I could listen to a million time over and still get goosebumps every time, it would be right at the 4 minute mark. The juxtaposition of the two melodies? It's incredible. Absolutely incredible. (PS: The best video wouldn't let me embed it. Click here. 45 second mark.)
3. My very best "make me happy" song. I don't care what kind of mood I'm in...how down I might be. I can't help but smile when I listen to this.
4. My most "recent" favorite, though by recent I mean within the past five years. The first time I heard it was live in concert. I was amazed at the simplistic genius of it all. A round? Genius. I arranged this song for my choral arranging grad school class, before it was available on any albums. I spent a lot of time listening to youtube videos. Mirielle listened to it in utero and all her time as a baby. It is still on her night time playlist, though pretty soon she's going to ask what "pissed" means. ;)
5. And finally. The true "favorite." The song that has been played more than any other song. The one that has been hanging around since high school...sometimes dropping out of coveted "favorite" spot for awhile, but always ending back up on top. I've seen him live in concert 12 times, and only heard the song twice. Funny how that works.
I have another Gossamer Blue layout to share with you today! I really love the different layers on this layout. I must admit, the colors look a little wonky in this photo. I think it's actually a lot prettier in real life. Also, there are gold elements (the hearts) that just look black in this picture. It's definitely better in person!!
So, there's a bit of a funny story to go along with this layout. As you know, my Cameo is new, and I'm still learning how to use it. When I got the Lori Whitlock cut files that come with the main kit I wasn't exactly sure how to use them. I used the *png file and then used my trace function and cut. Well, I don't think it worked exactly like it was supposed to. Yeah...pretty sure the little chevrons are supposed to be cut out completely. But, I actually really like it this way...see, even mistakes can turn themselves into something good! Although I probably need to figure out how to actually USE the files in the future! Have a great Monday!
November 1 also marked the reveal of a brand new Gossamer Blue kit. This kit was truly beautiful!! I made five layouts, four that I loved. One that is so-so. In true Em fashion, I will save my least favorite for last... ;) Today I have one of my favorites! It doesn't exactly have a title, so I'll just call it "Fall"! I love that the Pink Paislee frames perfectly fit my Instagram photos! !
I think the one item in the kit that I used up entirely on all my layouts was the set of Heidi Swapp epoxy words and shapes from the Bits and Pieces add-on. LOVE them! And that cute little stamp? Made by Sodalicious in Poland. I'm not much of a stamper, but I love the wood mounted stamps that come with the kit and add-ons!
I hope you have a great Saturday!! It's gloomy here, and I'm hoping to get my scrap space cleaned up a bit! What are your weekend plans?
Today is the first day of November. Crazy!! The first of the month is always exciting because it means a new gallery at write.click.scrapbook. This month's theme was "Favorite Colors." I was super excited to create a color layout...because color is my favorite part of scrapbooking! I love coming up with color schemes and putting together papers and embellishments. This layout uses my (current) favorite color scheme of orange, yellow, and aqua. I've been hoarding this Studio Calico Heyday paper for sometime now, and I'm so glad I finally had a good reason to use it! This was also the first layout I made with my Cameo! I haven't used it much...but I love it already! :)
Be sure to check out all my talented W.C.S. teammates in this month's gallery! Have a great Thursday!
